Lee Cultural Center (West Philly)
Home field to the West Philly Baseball Club. Lee Cultural Center is named in honor of John A. Lee, Sr., an athlete, humanitarian, and civic leader who was the first African-American graduate of Roman Catholic High School. The site was once a creative hub for black artists in Philly, housing studio and performance space for musicians, sculptors, photographers, writers, dancers, actors, and more. Famed singer, songwriter, jazz musician, and civil rights activist Nina Simone -- known as the "High Priestess of Soul" -- was one of the many talented individuals who showcased their work at Lee.
